SkiLMeeT showcases new data tool to inform skills policy

Brussels, 14 October 2025 – SkiLMeeT researchers Linda Koopmans and Sadegh Shahmohammadi from TNO presented the project’s preliminary data tool and shared policy recommendations at the European Commission’s Education and Skills – Horizon Europe Feedback to Policy event. The meeting gathered more than 100 researchers and policymakers to discuss how research projects can shape EU education and skills policies and help Europe respond to changing labour market needs.

SkiLMeeT contributed to the roundtable on skills and labour shortages and skills mismatches, where our researchers showcased the preliminary version of the European Labour Market Dashboard, a data-driven tool that enables cross-country comparisons of skills and career transitions. The dashboard created by TNO’s data scientists, Sadegh Shahmohammadi and Xavier Sa Castro Pinho, draws on large-scale labour market data provided by Revelio Labs, covering more than one billion job profiles, 20 million companies and over 3,000 distinct skills. It contains information on individual career trajectories, including education and skills, as well as job transitions across occupations and sectors.

The dashboard currently covers six countries – the Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany and Luxembourg – and contains data from over 26 million unique job profiles. It enables users to analyse how skills evolve across countries and industries, identify where shortages are emerging, and explore which career transitions are most likely to occur.

In addition to presenting the dashboard, the researchers outlined SkiLMeeT’s policy recommendations, emphasising the importance of using new datasets to better understand skills shortages and job transitions, fostering green skills development at all levels of education, and reforming education systems to make upskilling and reskilling more accessible for workers.

The session featured a keynote by Jeroen Jutte from the European Commission on the Union of Skills and the EU’s evolving skills strategy in the context of changing labour market needs. The roundtable was moderated by Simone Rosini from EU Employment and Skills, who guided a lively discussion with participants and project representatives.
